JAKARTA - The United States (US) National Security Council said Iran had started airstrikes against Israel.

"This attack is likely to take several hours," said US National Security Council spokesman Adrienne Watson, as released by the press on the White House Web website reported by ANTARA, Sunday, April 14.

Following the attack, the US national security team routinely provides the latest information to US President Joe Biden about the developing situation, Watson said.

Biden will also meet with them at the White House on Saturday, April 13 local time.

Meanwhile, the team also carried out constant communication with Israeli officials as well as partners and other allies.

Watson also added that President Biden had emphasized his steadfast support for Israel.

"President Biden has made it clear: our support for Israel's security is very strong. The US will support the Israeli people and support their defense from threats emanating from Iran," he said.

Meanwhile, Iran's IRNA News Agency reported Israeli Military Forces Spokesman Daniel Righti said Iran had launched dozens of drones from its territory towards Israel.
