JAKARTA - Iran's Permanent Representative at the United Nations said their attack on Israel was legitimate, warning the country would no longer make mistakes and the United States would not interfere.

"It was carried out under Article 51 of the UN Charter relating to a legitimate defense, Iran's military action was a response to the Zionist regime's aggression against our diplomatic building in Damascus," Iran's Mission to the United Nations wrote in a post on social media X, as quoted on Sunday, April 14.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claims to have carried out an attack on Israel, saying it was in response to an attack on the Iranian Embassy in Damascus, Syria that killed a number of Iranian military elites, citing IRNA.

"The attack is a response to various crimes committed by the Zionist regime, including attacks on the consular section of the Iranian Embassy in Damascus and the killing of a group of commanders and advisers to the military of our country in Syria," the statement said.

According to the IRGC Public Relations Office, details of the operation, carried out with the approval of the Highest National Security Council, under the supervision of the Iranian Armed Forces' General Staff, and with the support of the Army and Iran's Ministry of Defense, will soon be made public, citing Tasnim.

"This problem can be considered resolved. However, if the Israeli regime makes another mistake, Iran's response will be much more severe. This is a conflict between Iran and the evil Israeli regime, which the US must move away!," said the Iranian Mission to the United Nations.

In Israel, Israeli spokesman Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed Iranian drone and missile attacks against its country, saying their fighter jets and air defense systems were alerted to anticipate.

IDF spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Allahhi said Iranian attacks caused little damage to military bases.

He said most of the missiles were intercepted by the Arrow's long-range air defense system. Most of the missiles were shot down outside Israeli airspace, he said.
