Korlantas Predicts Peak Backflow To Occur On Sundays And Mondays

JAKARTA - The Traffic Corps (Korlantas) of the National Police predicts that the peak of the backflow of Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijri will occur on Sunday (14/4) and Monday (15/4), so travelers are advised to avoid the peak of the backflow by returning early or later.

"Don't wait for the peak (backflow) or we also urge you to postpone after that or the 17th, 18th, 19th (April 2024)," said Head of Korlantas Polri Inspector General Aan Suhanan as reported by ANTARA, Friday, April 12.

Aan asked travelers to take advantage of the toll tariff discount which was imposed on April 17 to 19, 2024, so that there would be no accumulation of vehicles at the peak of backflow.

"Please employees, maybe ministries, institutions, the private sector, who may be able to work through the house, work from home, it can be carried out," said Aan.

In addition, he appealed to motorists to ensure their health condition. He warned motorists not to force themselves to continue driving if concentrations have decreased and feel tired.

"We still appeal at this time of return, ensure that health or stamina are in prime condition," he said.

He said four-wheeled riders should at least rest after 4 hours of travel, while maximum two-wheeled riders must rest after 2 hours of travel.

"For public transportation, it's an eight-hour working period. If it's been eight hours, it means using a backup driver. These are friends of bus entrepreneurs, travel, there must be a backup driver, so that we can guarantee this safety," said Aan.

Previously, the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi also appealed to the travelers to return on Friday or Saturday (13/4).

"Therefore, as recommended by the President at that time to return early. If possible tomorrow or Saturday," said Budi at KM 70 of the Jakarta-Cikampek (Japek) Toll Road, Thursday (11/4).

According to him, the backflow in 2 days is still quiet and will not cause congestion, because the peak of backflow is predicted to occur on D+3 and D+4 Lebaran 2024.
