JAKARTA The Indonesian U-23 national team squad has been officially reduced to 23 players to prepare to appear in the U-23 Asian Cup.
Previously, there were a total of 29 names participating in the training camp in Dubai to welcome the competition which will take place in Qatar from April 15 to May 3.
The six names that will not participate in Shin Tae Yong's squad to Qatar are Nathan Tjoe-A-On, Erlangga Setyo, Bagas Kaffa, Haykal Alhafiz, Alfeandra Dewangga, and Rifky Dwi Septiawan.
Meanwhile, Cerezer Osaka defender Justin Hubner is included in the squad list even though the player does not attend the Garuda squad training camp.
Ten of the other names in the squad were those who strengthened Indonesia when it made history in the 2023 Asian Cup in Qatar early last year by breaking through the knockout stages.
The names are Ernando Ari, Rizky Ridho, Justin Hubner, Pratama Arhan, Ivar Jenner, Marselino Ferdinand, Witan Sulaeman, Ramadhan Sananta, Hokky Caraka, and Rafael Struick.
During the training camp in Dubai, Garuda Muda was recorded to have undergone two test matches. The result lost 1-3 against Saudi Arabia and won 1-0 over the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
