PDIP Basarah Regarding Megawati-Prabowo Meeting: It's Not Appropriate To Say Reconciliation

Chairman of the PDI-P (PDIP) DPP Ahmad Basarah said it was inappropriate if the meeting between PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri and Prabowo Subianto who were elected presidential candidates was a form of reconciliation. He said, these two figures had a good relationship. "Mrs. Megawati or PDIP Perjuangan has never had any personal problems with Gerindra and especially Mrs. Mega and Mr. Prabowo," Basarah told reporters at the At-Taufiq Mosque, Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta, Wednesday, April 10. “ The personal relationship between the two of him throughout history that I know is very good to this day. So it is not appropriate to say that Bu Mega and Pak Prabowo must carry out reconciliation,” he continued. Basarah said that the current conditions are only related to the 2024 presidential election, not a personal matter. “ We must consider it a normal thing to be our tradition of democracy so that it is not in its place if we have to say we have to reconcile between Megawati and Pak Prabowo,” he said. Moreover, if the meeting occurs, it cannot be interpreted that PDIP is joining a new government. “ It could be that we are working together to build the Republic of Indonesia, both outside and within the government,” Basarah said. As previously reported, the plan to meet Prabowo and Megawati was widely heard. PDIP DPP chairman Puan Maharani is said to be a bridge. Meanwhile, when confirmed, Puan did not comment much. He only said that he wanted to celebrate the moment of Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijri first.
