Welcoming Eid Al-Fitr 1445 H, Istiqlal Mosque Prepares Rampak Bedug At Takbir Night

JAKARTA - The Istiqlal Mosque is preparing for the impact of the bedug, national takbir and the torch relay on the night of the takbiran to welcome Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijri.

"There are two events, the national takbir, the impact of the bedug at the Al-Fattah plaza. Previously there was the release of the torch relay," said Deputy Head of the Istiqlal Mosque Worship Organizer Abu Hurairah Abd. Greetings when contacted by ANTARA, Tuesday 9 April.

Rampak bedug refers to the Ministry of Culture as the art of bedug by using many beds and adding them simultaneously so as to produce a distinctive rhythm.

Abu said that during the national takbir event, the Grand Imam of the Istiqlal Mosque, Nasaruddin Umar, would give a speech followed by representatives from Sarawak.

"From Sarawak, he gave a kind of speech, followed by congratulations on Eid al-Fitr. Istiqlal collaborated with several in the outside mosque. Followed by the impact of the bedug, then takbir until around 22.00-22.30 WIB," he said.

Meanwhile, regarding the torch relay, Abu explained, this activity was first held at Istiqlal and facilitated by the Ministry of Religion.

According to information, 200 people participated in the torch relay, in collaboration with a number of mosques.

"To liven up the tradition. In the past there was bamboo, basically there were really torchs, some were digital. The meaning was not in the torch but in celebration," said Abu.

He has not been able to confirm the location of the torch relay around the mosque alone or can leave the mosque because he is still waiting for permission from the presidential security forces.

"Because the night of the takbiran, the presidential security forces took over, were allowed to leave or only at the mosque," said Abu.

Previously, the Istiqlal Mosque held an itikaf on the last 10 nights of Ramadan involving as many as 500 Muslims.

In addition to the itikaf facilitated by the manager, they also carry out independent itikaf without the need to register.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Religion is scheduled to hold an Isbat Session to determine 1 Syawal 1445 Hijri or Lebaran 2024 today.
