JAKARTA - Lecturer of Constitutional Law at Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta Agus Riewanto said the Constitutional Court must decide on disputes over the results of the general election (PHPU) or the 2024 election dispute in accordance with the principle of justice.

"In principle, the Constitutional Court must (decision the PHPU) based on the principles of justice," Agus said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, April 8.

According to him, the court is the end of a ticket, dispute, and the final election dispute.

Therefore, he hopes that the Constitutional Court can be more fair in processing election disputes so that the parties get legal benefits.

"The basis principle is legal benefit. That is legal certainty," he explained.

"We'll just have to wait for the decision of the Constitutional Court on April 22," said Agus.

The PHPU stage has only reached the submission of evidence in the form of experts. There are still witnesses and evidence facts that will be presented at the trial.

"Because in the end the Constitutional Court will decide based on evidence, it can be documents, expert witnesses and based on the judge's beliefs and facts at trial," he added.

The Constitutional Court opened the stages of delivering conclusions in the handling of the 2024 Presidential Election Result Dispute (PHPU) case after the end of the trial stages of the case.

"We, the panel of judges, agree that there are things that still want to be submitted, even though this is the last trial, can be accommodated through conclusions," said Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court Suhartoyo at the end of the follow-up trial of the 2024 presidential election PHPU case, Friday (5/4).

Suhartoyo said the stages of submitting conclusions in the previous presidential election PHPU trial were not mandatory.

However, in the PHPU case for the 2024 presidential election, there are many different dynamics from before so that the Constitutional Court accommodates the delivery of crucial things and the submission of files that are still lagging behind through these stages.
