Biden Will Visit The Collapse Location Of The Baltimore Bridge, Meet The Family Of 6 Dead Victims

JAKARTA - The President of the United States (US), Joe Biden plans to visit the crash site of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, Maryland, USA, Friday, April 5 local time.

Citing ABC News, Biden will visit the approximately 2.5-kilometer long bridge with Maryland Governor Wes Moore, and a number of other officials.

Biden's visit was also in order to see firsthand the handling of the bridge led by federal officials.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said, during her visit, Biden is also scheduled to meet the families of six victims of the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge.

As is known, a cargo ship containing dozens of Singapore-flagged containers crashed into the Francis Scott Key Bridge at around 1.30 am on Tuesday, March 26 local time.

A total of six construction workers on the bridge were said to be victims. They fell from a bridge that collapsed into the cold waters of the Patapsco River.

Not long after, the bodies of the four construction workers were found, while the other two are still missing. Authorities said it was most likely a death toll.

"They are hard workers who work in the middle of the night to repair holes on bridges that are crossed by tens of thousands of tourists every day," said the White House press secretary at a press conference Thursday, April 4.
