"Yes, it is true that he was arrested last night, the perpetrator has been arrested. He was arrested in the Jakarta area," said West Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head Kompol Andri Kurniawan when confirmed, Friday, March 29.
During this arrest, his staff coordinated with Grab so that the police could easily reveal the identity of the perpetrator who carried out the detention.
"That's the result of collaboration with Grab to investigate this. We are also assisted by Grab," he said.
Currently, the perpetrators are still being investigated at the West Jakarta Metro Police. The goal is to find out the motive of the perpetrators for the action.
Meanwhile, the victim's attorney, Wilhelmus Rio Resandhi, said the perpetrator was arrested by the police on Friday, March 29, in the early hours of the morning.
"Currently, the alleged perpetrator or Reported Party is at the West Jakarta Metro Police along with the evidence in accordance with Article 39 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Procedure Code," he said.
Incident Chronology
Rio Resandhi explained that the incident began when the victim ordered an online taxi for Grab Car from Neo Soho, Tanjung Duren, West Jakarta to his place of residence, Monday, March 25, at night.
"The reporter as usual ensures that the police number is in accordance with the application," Rio said in his statement, Thursday, March 28.
After the victim boarded the online taxi car, suddenly suspicion emerged. The reason is that the trip is not in accordance with the application.
"Suddenly there was a suspicion, why the car entered the toll road and it turned out that the driver's partner did not press the pick-up button in the application," he said
"(When he entered the toll road and was asked, the driver's partner said that he only followed the maps and from there the new reporter checked the Grab app and it turned out that the driver's partner did not press the pick-up button)," he continued.
Long story short, the online taxi driver on his way complained of shortness of breath and asked the victim to replace him in driving his vehicle. The victim also refused the request
"Then, the driver's partner suddenly asked the reporter for a transfer of Rp. 100 million, here he only asked for a transfer and had not been threatened, because the driver's partner asked for a transfer and then the reporter forced him out of the car," he said.

"Following the reporter and then pulling, smothering, carrying, and slamming the reporter back into the car, after previously screaming for help from local road users," he said.
There is still debate and a tug of war between the driver and the victim's partner. The perpetrator then took the victim's bag.
"But the reporter managed to reclaim the bag containing the laptop, the iPhone didn't," he said
In short, the passengers continued to rebel and someone on the edge of the toll road knew. The victim jumped from the edge of the toll road which was high enough to suffer injuries, while the online taxi driver managed to escape with the passenger's cellphone.
