At The Constitutional Court Session, KPU Sindir Anies-Cak Imin: If You Get The Most Votes, Still Sue?

The General Election Commission (KPU) insinuated Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin by questioning whether they would still file a lawsuit on the Dispute of General Election Results (PHPU) or not, if they received the most votes in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres) contestation.

The satire began when the KPU conveyed the strangeness felt with the lawsuit filed by the presidential and vice presidential candidate number 1 to the Constitutional Court (MK). Where, one of his applications requested that Gibran Rakabuming Raka be disqualified.

"The Petitioner did not submit any objections. That it looks strange, if the applicant only argued that the 2024 presidential registration formal requirements were not fulfilled after the vote count results were known," said Head of the KPU Legal Team, Hifdzil Alim, during the trial, Thursday, March 28.

Moreover, Anies-Cak Imin participated in the entire series of stages of the presidential election. Without expressing any objections.

Then, the KPU insinuated Anies-Cak Imin's camp by saying that the presidential and vice presidential candidates would not file a lawsuit if they got the most votes in the 2024 presidential election contestation.

"The question is, if the applicant gets the most votes in the 2024 election, will the applicant argued that the allegations of not fulfilling the formal registration requirements for the candidate pair? Of course the answer is not Your Honor," he said.

Thus, the KPU considers the arguments of the petitioner's petition regarding the determination of Gibran Rakabuming Raka as a vice presidential candidate to be invalid because maladministration is not proven

"Based on that, the petitioner's argument which said the respondent deliberately accepted candidate pair number 2 illegally and violated the law was not proven," said Hifdzil.

For information, the presidential election dispute lawsuit filed by Anies and Muhaimin has case number 2/PHPU.PRES-XXII/2024. In the lawsuit, they wanted a re-voting by disqualifying Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
