Kujon Rampung Art Village, Borobudur Museum Entering Filling Stage

JAKARTA - The infrastructure of the Kujon Art Village in the Borobudur area, Central Java, has been completed. The government is now preparing to fill the museum and display system, which is targeted to be of global standard.

The plan was discussed by Minister of Culture Fadli Zon together with Deputy Minister of Public Works Diana Kusumastuti at the Ministry of Culture Office, Jakarta, Monday (20/7).

Kujon Art Village is located in Borobudur District, Magelang Regency. The physical development was carried out by the Regional Housing Infrastructure Agency of the Ministry of PU to support the Borobudur Super Priority Tourism Destination.

Fadli said the Ministry of Culture would handle the filling of museums within the area. The museum is designed to be an education and information center that still follows the principle of preserving cultural heritage.

"The PU Ministry has built the basic infrastructure of the Kujon Art Village very well. Our synergy at this time is to ensure that the museum within the area can become a center of education and information that is in line with the values of preserving cultural heritage," said Fadli.

The PU Ministry will ensure that the functions of buildings and landscape design of the area remain in accordance with the Master Plan for the Development of the Borobudur Area.

The development of the area also involves InJourney, Angkasa Pura Indonesia, Temple Park, and Garuda Indonesia. The involvement of a number of SOEs is directed to support the promotion, flight connectivity, commercial services, and convenience of tourists.

Apart from the Kujon Art Village, the meeting discussed the revitalization of the Subak Museum or Mandala Mathika in Tabanan Regency, Bali.

Revitalization will include refurbishing facilities and updating exhibition methods. The government targets the museum to become a more interactive education center, especially for the younger generation, while strengthening the preservation of Bali's traditional irrigation system.

The Subak system has been recognized as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage. The system reflects the philosophy of Tri Hita Karana which regulates the relationship between humans with God, fellow humans, and the environment.
