Presidential candidate number one, Anies Baswedan assessed that the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres) process organized by the General Election Commission (KPU) did not run honestly and fairly.

He made this statement when giving a statement at the beginning of the trial of the dispute over the results of the general election (PHPU) at the Constitutional Court (MK).

It started when Anies mentioned the implementation of the General Election (Pemilu) which had to apply the principle of luber jurdil or directly, public, free, secret, honest, and fair.

With the application of the principle, the public can exercise their voting rights without pressure or threats from any party.

"The election that is carried out honestly and fairly is actually the recognition of the basic rights of every citizen in determining the direction of the future and their own country is the highest form of people's sovereignty where every vote can be delivered and calculated without pressure, without threats, without the lure of reward," Anies said at the Constitutional Court, Wednesday, March 27.

After conveying this matter, Anies stated that the 2024 presidential election process did not apply the principle

"The question is, did the 2024 presidential election last day run honestly and fairly? Let us convey the answer, no," said Anies.

According to him, many irregularities occurred at the five-year democratic party. In fact, it is considered to have tarnished Indonesia's democracy.

"What happened was the opposite and this is emblazoned in front of all of us, we witnessed with deep concern, a series of deviations that have tarnished the integrity of our democratic process," said Anies.

For information, the presidential election dispute lawsuit filed by Anies and Muhaimin has case number 2/PHPU.PRES-XXII/2024. In the lawsuit, they wanted a re-voting by disqualifying Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
