Drivers Of Red Cars Who Recklessly Hit Officers In Banjarmasin Arrested, Consumption Of Zenith Drugs

The Banjarmasin Police Traffic Unit (Satlantas) ranks of the South Kalimantan Regional Police (Kalsel) arrested a four-wheeled driver with the initials MI (25) and his reckless MR (24) passenger and crashed into a traffic officer.

Banjarmasin Police Traffic Head AKP Edwin Widya Dirotsaha Putra said the driver (Resident of Tanah Bumbu) consumed five zenith narcotics, while his colleague (City of Kotabaru) consumed three pills.

"The perpetrator used a red Brio car numbered DA 1836 ZAJ to violate traffic signs by going against the flow. Then the officers tried to chase the perpetrator who was driving fast but ignored," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, March 26.

After that, the perpetrator tried to avoid traffic jams and had time to circle around the city, then broke through traffic signs and grazed the driver of the car.

"The perpetrators still did not stop and were desperate to break through. When they were stuck in traffic at the red light at Jalan Ahmad Yani Kilometer 3.5, the crowd stopped and ordered the perpetrators to come down. But the perpetrators still didn't want to come out," he said.

Then, the perpetrator stepped on the vehicle's gas and hit the authorities who tried to stop it in front. The officer fell and was injured.

The pursuit did not stop, officers and the community managed to forcibly stop the perpetrators on Jalan Ahmad Yani Kilometer 5, the perpetrators could not escape and were forced to get out of the car. Furthermore, the two perpetrators and their vehicles were taken to the Banjarmasin Police Headquarters for further processing.

AKP Edwin explained that the perpetrator had endangered the community and motorists on the highway. So that efforts to stop it were forced by officers even though previously managed to escape several times.
