BANDA ACEH - Aceh civil society asked the government to temporarily suspend the living park project on the ruins of one of the sites of gross human rights violations of Rumoh Geudong in Pidie Regency, Aceh, due to the discovery of human bones.

"We urge to temporarily stop the construction of a living park, because it has the potential to damage evidence or obstruction of justice," said Aceh's Commission Coordinator for Missing Persons and Violence (KontraS), Azharul Husna, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, March 26.

Husna said that the construction of a living park memory must begin with revealing the truth, implementing human rights courts, as well as digging and identifying my bones in a sensitive and dignified manner.

"In this process, the victim's family must be actively involved and given transparent information about its development," he said.

He urged the National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) to immediately step in to follow up on the discovery of human bones above Rumoh Geudong considering that Komnas HAM had completed an investigation into the Rumoh Geudong incident and Other Sattis Posts on August 28, 2018.

"Komnas HAM must take active action by going down to monitor and follow up on the necessary investigation of the Geudong Rumoh case," he said.

Previously, the Living Park Rumoh Geudong memorang project worker in Gampong Bilie Aron, Glumpang Tiga District, Pidie, reportedly found the bones of a human who was suspected of being a victim of murder outside the legal process during the implementation of the Military Operations Area (DOM) in Aceh.

The bone was found around the monument in the Rumoh Geudong complex. The bones found were arm bones, leg bones, and six thigh bones.

All of these bones have been buried in one grave led by the imam or local religious leaders on an Islamic basis, in early March 2024.

The Indonesian government has acknowledged cases of past gross human rights violations, and three of them are in Aceh, namely the Simpang KKA, Jambo Keupok and Rumoh Geudong events.
