Condemns PM Eswatini's Visit To Taiwan, China: This Is A Big Provocation

JAKARTA - China condemned the visit of Prime Minister Eswatini Russell Mmiso Dlamini to Taiwan. This is considered a major provocation of the principles of One China and Chinese Sovereignty.

"Kami mengetahui kunjungan PM Eswatini Russell Mmiso Dlamini ke Taiwan baru-baru ini. Ini merupakan provokan besar terhadap prinsip 'Satu China' dan kedaulatan China, China dengan tegas menentang hal ini," kata Juru Bicara Kementerian Luar Negeri China Lin Jian mengutip Antara.

Taiwanese leader Tsai Ing-wen received a visit from PM Eswatini Russell Dlamini and his entourage on Tuesday (19/3).

Dlamini led the group arriving in Taiwan on Monday (18/3) for a 5-day visit and was the first visit to Taiwan since taking office in November 2023.

Currently, there are only 12 countries that have diplomatic relations with Taiwan, namelyaturation, Guatemala, Paraguay, Haiti, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Marshall Islands, Palau, Bribery, Eswatini and the Vatican.

"There is only one China in the world, Taiwan is an inseparable part of China's territory, and the Government of the People's Republic of China is the only legitimate government representing all of China," said Lin Jian.

Lin Jian said that during the last 56 years the so-called "plomatic relations" between Eswatini and the Taiwanese region had not provided real benefits to the people of Eswatini.

"Eswatini's national development has barely made any progress. We believe the people of Eswatini are well aware of this. Taiwanese authorities are wasting taxpayers' money to support several high-ranking officials in Eswatini in order to maintain the so-called 'political relations'," said Lin Jian.

Such relations, according to Lin Jian, are useless for the people of Taiwan and Eswatini.

"In addition, more than 180 countries and international organizations affirm their commitment to the principles of 'One China' after elections in Taiwan.

"Recently, Nauru rebuilt diplomatic relations with China, reducing the number of countries that have so-called 'plomatic relations' with Taiwan territory to only 12 countries," explained Lin Jian.

Certain parties in power in Eswatini contradict the trend of the times, according to Lin Jian, maintaining the so-called "plomatic relations" with Taiwan and not getting support and not going to last long.

"We believe that the people of Eswatini will clearly see the truth about 'Taiwan independence' and recognize the dangers of deformed 'dollar diplomacy' between Taiwan and Eswatini," said Lin Jian.

Lin Jian urged certain people in power in Eswatini to look directly at the deals that apply in the international community, refraining from deceiving yourself.

"Or deliberately underestimate the principle of 'One China', which is the basic norm governing international relations, and realize the mistakes of realizing and correcting their mistakes. The way as soon as possible," said Lin Jian.

Taiwan only held elections on January 13, 2024, which was won by candidates from the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) William Lai Ching-te.

He is described as a defender of Taiwan democracy, but Beijing calls him "dangerous" and is one of the " separatist groups" so that it can trigger cross-south conflicts.

Currently Lai is still the deputy leader of Tsai Ing-wen and this will be the third DPP term in a row.

Under the leadership of Taiwanese leader Tsai Ing-wen of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) since 2016, Taiwan has taken a strong stance against Beijing and the principle of "One China" which says that Taiwan is territory under Beijing's rule.
