President Prabowo Involves Professors in Key Government Positions

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto said he involved professors in various key positions in the government to help find solutions to various national problems.

When opening the Indonesian Science, Technology, and Industry Convention (KSTI) in Jakarta, Friday, Prabowo said that in almost every strategic sector of the government there are professors who occupy an important position in the policy-making process.

"If you look at it, almost in every field of government, I have included professors in positions that are very decisive," he said.

Prabowo explained that the purpose of being a state is to realize a decent and prosperous life for the people. Therefore, the government must be able to face various challenges while finding solutions to the problems faced by the nation.

According to him, from the beginning he realized the importance of the role of scientists and professors in the administration of the state. On this basis, professors are involved in various fields that have strategic and decisive roles.

Prabowo assessed that the success of a leader is not only determined by the leader himself, but also by the quality of the team supporting him.

He said a leader needs reliable human resources to achieve the goals that have been set.

As an illustration, Prabowo cited the success in sports is not only determined by the players, but also by the quality of management and the entire supporting team.

"If we want to win football, we have to have a good manager, a good coach, a good masseuse, a good drink-bringer, and the best team, then we can be champions. The same in all fields. It's not the technology, it's not the equipment, but the men and women behind the equipment," he said.

Prabowo emphasized that the main factor that determines success is not solely technology or equipment, but the quality of human resources who operate and utilize it.

On that occasion, the President also expressed his appreciation for the implementation of KSTI which involved scientists and academics in discussing various national strategic issues.

The KSTI National Seminar will take place on June 26-28, 2026 with the theme "Strategies for Economic Independence and Indonesian Welfare". The activities include symposia and panel discussions on agriculture, energy, economics and finance, food security, marine and fisheries, downstream, and industry.

On Saturday (27/6), American economist Jeffrey Sachs is scheduled to give a public lecture to thousands of lecturers from various universities in Indonesia.

The series of activities will be closed on Sunday (28/6) with the launch of the roadmap and the 2026 research agenda by the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto together with Arif Satria. President Prabowo is scheduled to close the event at 10.00 WIB.
