Sahroni Admits He Knows Entrepreneur Hanan Supangkat After Being Examined Regarding SYL Money Laundering

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives who is also the General Treasurer of the NasDem Party, Ahmad Sahroni, admitted that he knew businessman Hanan Supangkat.

This confession was conveyed by Sahroni after being examined as a witness to the alleged money laundering crime (TPPU) that ensnared former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo today, Friday, March 22. He and Hanan, who have been prevented from leaving the country, are a car club.

"Knowing, he used to be my deputy at a Ferrari club," Sahroni told reporters at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta.

Even so, Syahroni denied knowing the connection between Hanan and Syahrul. Investigators are claimed not to ask about it.

Meanwhile, regarding the Rp15 billion money found by investigators at Hanan's house, the legislator also admitted that he did not know. "That's asking Hanan not to be with me. That's not my money," he said.

Previously reported, the KPK named Syahrul Yasin Limpo as a suspect in alleged money laundering. This step was taken after investigators developed allegations of extortion and gratification which is currently being tried at the Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court (PN).

In the case of extortion and gratification, Syahrul was charged with extortion of up to Rp44.5 billion in the 2020-2023 period. This action was carried out together with the Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture Kasdi Subagyono and the Director of Agricultural Equipment and Machinery of the Directorate General of Infrastructure and Facilities of the Ministry of Agriculture Muhammad Hatta.

This money was then used for the benefit of Syahrul's wife and family, invited gifts, the NasDem Party, religious events, aircraft charters to Umrah and sacrifices. Then, he was also charged with receiving gratuities of Rp40.6 M from January 2020 to October 2023.
