TNI Commander Map Conflict-Prone Points For The 2024 Pilkada, 15 Provinces Entered 'Red Zone'

JAKARTA - TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto said that his party had mapped areas prone to conflict at the 2024 Pilkada. At least 15 provinces entered the'red zone' because of their high level of vulnerability. This was conveyed by General Agus in a meeting of TNI readiness to support the security of the Idul Fitri and 2024 Pilkada with Commission I of the DPR RI today. The TNI Commander was also accompanied by KSAD, KSAL and KSAU. "Regarding the 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada, the TNI has carried out mappings and analysis of vulnerabilities that will potentially arise in the upcoming simultaneous regional elections," said Panglima Agus in a meeting at the Parliament Complex, Senayan Jakarta, Thursday, March 21.

Based on KPU information, continued General Agus, the 2024 Pilkada will elect leaders from 545 regions throughout Indonesia consisting of 37 provinces, 415 regencies and 93 cities.

"With the distribution of regions throughout Indonesia as appeared on the screen, the simultaneous implementation of regional elections has a greater vulnerability than the presidential and legislative elections," he said. According to Agus, there is a possibility of greater riots between support groups when faced with a limited number of security tools. In addition, he said, in several areas, it is also possible for SARA conflicts to occur if identity politics is echoed by irresponsible people. "This triggers divisions on a national scale if the various possible vulnerabilities of vulnerability are utilized by third parties," he said.

General Agus said, BAIS TNI has specifically created a vulnerability index in the 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada. He revealed, there are 15 provinces that have a high level of vulnerability marked as a red zone. "Based on the recent developments in the situation, I can briefly convey that there are 15 provinces that have a high level of vulnerability (which are marked by red boxes on the slide). The 15 provinces are Nangroe Aceh Darussalam province, DKI Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, East Java, Southeast Sulawesi, North Sulawesi, North Maluku and 6 provinces in Papua," he explained. "Each province has different types and kinds of vulnerabilities, ranging from the SARA conflict, conflicts between candidate pairs, clashes between fanatical supporters, political elite conflicts, conflicts in certain political base areas to armed conflict in Papua," concluded General Agus.
