JATENG - Basarnas Cilacap ensures that it is still continuing to search for the Fast Maju Jaya-7 fishing boat that lost contact in the Indian Ocean south of Java Island. Until now, the ship containing 10 crew members (ABK) is not yet known.

"We have explored, and we have divided several SRUs (Search and Rescue Units), because our area is too far, wide, up to 151 kilometers," said Head of Cilacap Basarnas Adah Sudarsa in Cilacap, Central Java, Tuesday, March 19, confiscated by Antara.

Adah said that currently his party is searching for a radius of 30-40 nautical miles.

He explained that the Fast Maju Jaya-7 ship, which was headed by Waidin, was known to have sailed along with three other ships on their way back to Cilacap during bad weather in the Indian Ocean south of East Java.

In the last communication made on Sunday, March 10, the Fast Maju Jaya-7 ship with the Makmur Jaya-20 ship led by Sumaryo, Makin Jaya-2, which was headed by Raino, and Maju Jaya-28, led by Tarmuji, agreed to seek shelter at Pacitan Pier because there was a storm in the Indian Ocean south of East Java.

However, when the other three ships arrived at Pacitan Pier, the Fast Maju Jaya-7 ship was unknown because its communication was cut off (loss contact), so it was reported to the ship owner in Cilacap on Wednesday, March 13 and forwarded to the Cilacap Basarnas.

"We conducted a search of 30-40 nautical miles (sea miles, ed.) assuming that the ship returned to Cilacap, it is estimated that it has entered our territory. But until now it has not been found," said Adah.

The search for this ship also involved the Yogyakarta Basarnas which also mobilized the potential for local SAR and assisted by the Surabaya Basarnas which monitors the southern waters of East Java by checking every dock that is usually used as a shelter for ships when bad weather occurs.

According to him, his party has also coordinated with the Australian Joint Rescue Coordination Center (JRCC) regarding the disaster experienced by the Fast Forward Jaya-7 ship.

Asked about the possibility that the search for the fishing boat would be ended soon, he said his party was still considering this, although in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOP), the search operation was carried out for 7 days and could be extended if there were signs showing the victim's whereabouts.

"However, until today there has been no sign of the existence of the ship. We will carry out monitoring," he said.

On a separate occasion, the Head of the All-Indonesian Fishermen Association (HNSI) of Cilacap Regency, Sarjono, said that his party had instructed all ships from Cilacap who had been looking for fish in the Indian Ocean south of Java to help search for the Lightning Maju Jaya-7 ship which was reported to have lost contact.

However, he said, the search for fishing boats departing from Cilacap on March 5, 2024, carrying the 10 crew members was hampered by bad weather that occurred in the Indian Ocean south of Java.

The 10 crew members consisted of Waidin (39) as the captain, Ahmad Mutajar (24), Angga Trio (21), Gunawan (22), Heri Setiaji (27), Ichya Umidin (23), M Ripto (25), Syarifuddin (25), Waroji (41), and Zaenal (29). All of them are residents of Pemalang Regency, Central Java

"The ships that were fishing took refuge in a safe place to avoid the storm, and only got out of the shelter on Sunday, March 17th," he said.

He hopes that the presence of the Fast Maju Jaya-17 ship can be found and all of his crew members are safe even though it has been too long and there has been bad weather that has made it difficult for search efforts.
