KAI Records 3,271 Passengers Canceled Departure Due To Semarang Flood

PT KAI recorded 3,271 passengers in the Daop 4 Semarang area canceled their departure due to floods that hit the capital city of Central Java from Wednesday (13/3) to Thursday (14/3) due to extreme weather.

Public Relations Manager of PT KAI Daop 4 Semarang Franoto Wibowo said, there were 17 trains whose departures were from Daop Semarang to various destinations which were dispatched due to flooding that cut the route in Pantura Semarang.

In addition, he continued, the 42 train trips that should have gone through Pantura Semarang had to be diverted to the southern route.

"PT KAI provides buses and other vehicles to evacuate passengers whose trips were affected by the flood," he said.

A total of 24 buses have been deployed to accommodate passengers affected by this change in operating pattern.

Franoto ensured that the fee for purchasing passenger train tickets that canceled their departure was returned 100 percent.

Currently, continued Franoto, the railway line in Pantura Semarang can be passed following the receding flood.

Efforts are being made to immediately return the flow of train trips in Pantura, Central Java to normal.

The density of train trips will soon decay along with the normal return of the flood-hit Pantura route.

Operational Semarang Tawang Station, which was closed due to flooding, he said, has also returned to normal since Friday morning.
