Head of the DKI Jakarta Population and Civil Registration Agency (Disdukcapil) Budi Awaluddin asked people with DKI ID cards who live outside Jakarta to immediately transfer their population documents, especially their ID cards.

Budi said residents must be aware, when the government is still distributing aid to residents who no longer live in Jakarta, regional finances are burdened and the use of the budget is not optimal.

"During the election yesterday, they (residents living outside the area) came to their parents' house (in Jakarta) and it turned out that they were still having ID cards there. They have lived outside for decades. In fact, we pay BPJS," Budi told reporters, Friday, March 8.

Budi described one example of this phenomenon. The Dukcapil Office of South Tangerang City noted that 75 thousand people who lived there for years still had DKI Jakarta ID cards.

"Of course, if they have moved there, the mandate of the law is 1 year. So, they have to move," said Budi.

The appeal for controlling population administration by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is carried out in line with the plan to deactivate the NIK of residents with DKI ID cards who no longer live in Jakarta.

Initially, the deactivation of the NIK will be carried out in March 2024. However, this implementation was postponed because there were still stages of the 2024 General Election and Regional Head Election.

This decision refers to the recommendations of Commission A of the DKI Jakarta DPRD which views that the deactivation of the NIK of DKI residents living outside the area has only been effective after the election event.

"We respect the recommendation of Commission A (DPRD DKI Jakarta) yesterday. When we socialized it in the DPRD, Commission A's recommendation asked to be implemented after the election," said Budi.

In the initial stage, the DKI Provincial Government will begin to disable the NIK in April. However, the elimination of the new NIK was carried out on residents who had not been reported.

Then, the deactivation of the NIK also targets residents who are recorded to still live in RTs that have been removed due to being affected by evictions or relocation of settlements.

"There were 81 thousand who died, 13 thousand of whose neighborhoods were abolished. In April, we will disable 20 thousand NIK first. We will gradually do it every month," explained Budi.

Meanwhile, the deactivation of the NIK of residents with DKI ID cards who already live outside the region will be carried out after the control of the two categories is completed.

Therefore, Budi asked residents affected by the arrangement of the population according to their domicile to come to the nearest dukcapil service counters to get information to reactivate their NIKs.
