JK: No Party Founded As Opposition It Was An Accident

JAKARTA - Vice President (Vice President) 10th and 12th of the Republic of Indonesia Jusuf Kalla said no party was set up to become an opposition. He said, most of those in that position are usually due to losing during the general election (election).

This was conveyed when he was the main speaker or keynote speaker in the discussion 'Consolidation for Democracy Post-Ection 2024: Opposition or Coalition?' at the Auditorium Juwono Sudarsono Fisip UI, Depok, Thursday, March 7.

Initially, JK agreed that the opposition was indeed needed to carry out the running government control function.

Earlier said the opposition loudly. Yes, the opposition is part of the system that someone is controlling it," said JK.

However, he reminded that political parties are actually built with the aim of being in power and having the authority. "No political party has been founded to become an opposition," he said.

"The opposition was an accident. Because it didn't win became an opposition. It's true that it became an accident. So everyone wants to be (part of the government, ed)," continued JK.

This condition, which was later called JK, caused many parties to choose to move pragmatically. They will join the winning camp and many will occur after the election.

One example is when he became vice president. He claims that he was not supported by the Golkar Party and the situation changed when the election winner was caught.

"As soon as we won, we joined Golkar. It's just normal politics," he said.

Even though it's normal, JK reminded that this change in attitude should not have a hidden purpose and purpose. So, democracy can run well in the country.

"Often people ask how to establish the right demorification, yes, democracies should not take the current one. But democracy that has meaning, democracy that has a good way for this nation," he concluded.
