Pamekasan Police Investigate Brimob Members At Political Party Witness During Recapitulation

PAMEKASAN - Pamekasan Police, East Java are still investigating the case of beating a witness to one of the political parties that occurred at the location of the recapitulation of the vote acquisition tally for the 2024 General Election on March 3.

"A number of parties have been questioned regarding this case," said Pamekasan Police Chief AKBP Jazuli Dani Iriawan as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, March 5.

The witness of the political party who was the victim of the beating of a member of the police was named Azif Mawardi.

The incident occurred when the victim was about to leave the area where the recapitulation of the results of the 2024 election vote acquisition was calculated in the courtyard of the PKPRI building on Jalan Raya Kemuning, Pamekasan.

At the same time, officers carried out sterilization and asked unauthorized parties to leave the location immediately.

At that time, suddenly a member of the East Java Police Mobile Brigade (Brimob) hit the victim and hit the right temple, causing his gaze to get dark.

"Fortunately I didn't pass out, because the blow that landed at this temple was very hard," said Azif.

For this incident, the victim then did a post-mortem and reported the person's actions to the Pamekasan Police Headquarters.

According to Police Chief AKBP Jazuli Dani Iriawan, his party needs to thoroughly investigate the case so as not to make things worse.

"Whatever the reason, violence cannot be justified. Therefore, we will investigate the case thoroughly," said the police chief.

The situation at the recapitulation location for the 2024 General Election at the district level in Pamekasan Regency is different from other districts on Madura Island, because election organizers prohibit all parties from entering the recapitulation area, including journalists.

This policy is implemented so that the implementation of recapitulation is not disturbed and various types of events in the forum are not caught on camera by journalists.

"In addition, which is also based on the ban on coverage by journalists because many party actions make changes, so that if covered it is not good," said KPU chairman Pamekasan Halili.
