Press Council Forms Committee Implementing Presidential Regulation Publisher Rights

JAKARTA - The Press Council will form a committee implementing the provisions in Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 32 of 2024 concerning the Responsibility of Digital Platform Companies to Support Quality Journalism. Chairman of the Press Council, Ninik Rahayu, said that the formation of the committee that followed up on the public rights would be filled with a maximum of 11 people. "The committee members who according to Presidential Decree No. 32 are at most 11 people consisting of 5 representatives from the press council who do not come from press companies, 5 people who come from the appointment of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, and one person from representatives from the government," said Ninik at the Press Council building, Tuesday, March 5. There were several stages carried out before the committee was formed. Initially, the Press Council formed a task force to select members of the organizing committee for Publisher Rights. The task force consists of the Press Council with three constituents of the Press Council, namely the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI), the Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI), and the Indonesian Television Journalists Association (IJTI). "On March 2, we just yesterday completed the formation of this presidential committee selection team," said Ninik. This teamsel is chaired by Imam Wahyudi and his secretary is Ninuk Pambudy. The other three members are Totok Suryanto, Bayu Wardhana, and Winda Prawitasari. "Later there will be three subdivisions, yes, from this activity and the three of them have carried out the election process," said Ninik. President Joko Widodo has ratified Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 32 of 2024 concerning the Responsibility of Digital Platform Companies to Support Quality Journalism or Publisher Rights on February 20.

Through this Presidential Decree, the government as a regulator seeks to regulate business relations between digital platforms and publicists or press companies, in broadcasting content from quality journalism.
