Doctor In Rafah Says Gaza's Health System Is Completely Destroyed, Palestinian Death Toll Reaches 30,534 People

JAKARTA - Doctors in Rafah City, the war-torn Gaza Strip warned that the health system in the Palestinian enclave was completely destroyed, while the death toll from the Hamas-Israeli conflict there continued to grow.

A Palestinian-American doctor who treated Palestinians who were traumatized outside a tent in the southern city of Rafah, where more than one million people took refuge, warned the health care system in Gaza "has been completely destroyed."

"We are basically the only trauma facility and we are operating in tents to deal with traumatic injuries and medical emergencies," Dr. Mohammad Subeh, an emergency room doctor from California, told CNN Michael Holmes, as quoted March 4.

Doctor Subeh further said that many people died from diseases that could actually be treated, such as diabetes and hypertension.

"We don't even have an alcohol capper if I need to put an IV. I need to clean your skin well, to make sure I don't cause any infection. Everything is stopped at the border," he said.

Israel's strict restrictions on aid entering the Gaza Strip have drastically reduced the medical supply in Gaza.

"You do what you can with the limited resources you have as an emergency doctor, trying to work creatively to find a solution quickly to stabilize the community and try to save lives," said Subeh.

He added that there had been "deliberate systematic destruction of any infrastructure element" in Gaza, as world leaders warned of the increasing death toll of Palestinians killed in Israeli attacks.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health in Gaza said on Monday, the death toll of Palestinians had reached 30,534, while about 71,920 others were injured, as quoted by Anadolu.

"Israeli occupation carried out 13 massacres of families in the Gaza Strip, leaving 124 martyrs dead and 210 injured over the past 24 hours," the ministry said in a statement.

"Many people are still trapped under the rubble and on the road because rescue teams were unable to reach them," the statement continued.

On the other hand, Israel has always emphasized that it is accidentally targeting civilians.
