Garbage Piling Up On The Roadside Of Cianjur City Will Be Transported To TPSA Mekarsari Gradually

JAKARTA - The Environment Agency (DLH) of Cianjur Regency, West Java, ensures that all waste that accumulates in urban areas to the outskirts of Cianjur City, is transported gradually to the Mekarsari TPSA, which has been operating for the last two days.

Head of DLH Cianjur Ahmad Rifai, as quoted from Antara, Sunday, March 3, said that the accumulation of garbage along the protocol road to provincial roads has been due to the unfunction of the new TPSA in Cikalongkulon District, plus a fleet of old garbage trucks.

"Sampah is piling up in every corner of the city because Mekarsari's new TPSA is just operating, plus only a few garbage trucks are owned that can dispose of garbage to Mekarsari, so garbage transportation is too late," he said.

However, his party is targeting that in the next few days the accumulated waste in a number of areas will be transported and dumped to the Mekarsari TPSA. To support the speed of transportation, his party has submitted an addition of a new truck fleet to the district government and the central government.

Rifai explained that the government's fleet is not 100 percent able to deliver waste to Mekarsari TPSA because the distance is quite far, plus the road terrain that is traversed is uphill and down, making it quite difficult.

"The condition of the old fleet plus the distance and terrain that are traversed is quite heavy, making the travel time take long. We hope that as soon as possible piles of garbage in urban areas and provincial roads can be transported as soon as possible," said Rifai.

Head of Environmental Pollution and Damage Control Division DLH Cianjur Meidy Prasetyadi added that the distance from the DLH office in Cilaku District to Mekarsari TPSA is about 35 kilometers, so a fleet of trucks loaded with garbage takes four hours to go round and round.

His party noted that currently, DLH Cianjur has 24 dump trucks and two truck arm roll for a fleet of garbage carriers with a capacity of six tons, but only 16 dump trucks can deliver waste to TPSA Mekarsari.

"Only a dozen can bring garbage to the Mekarsari TPSA, some of which even broke down, because they were not strong when entering the uphill road. So that a lot of garbage is still piling up, it cannot be transported in the city area and a number of other areas," said Meidy.

His party is trying to apply for a waste transport fleet loan to the Ministry of Environment (KLH) in Jakarta, directed to borrow from the Java II Housing Providers Agency (BP2P).

West Java (BP2P) has given the news that it will lend three dump trucks, but we don't know for sure when they can be taken. We are also still trying to borrow from the center and province with the hope that trucks with large capacities," he said.
