Prabowo Calls Indonesia 3 Years Again Becomes A World Food Barn

BANDUNG - Minister of Defense (Menhan) Prabowo Subianto said that Indonesia has the potential to become a world food barn within the next three years, by encouraging mastery in the field of technology so that Indonesia's agricultural sector is more advanced.

"In three years we will even become suppliers, we will become a food barn for the world, brothers and sisters," Prabowo said in a scientific oration during the National University of the Republic of Indonesia (UKRI) Graduation in Bandung as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, February 29.

Prabowo stated that with the right efforts, Indonesia could take advantage of its natural potential to significantly increase food production.

"We will soon return to self-sufficiency in food. We will not import food in two or three years," he said.

According to him, currently what needs to be prepared is the development of modern technology and improving the quality of human resources (HR) in the agricultural sector.

"It depends on the ability of our nation to master technology. Technology is not just goods, not just buying technology. It must be able to master, create, and carry out that technology," said Prabowo.

In addition, Prabowo assessed that the food estate program is very important for food independence. However, there are still many intellectuals in Indonesia who insult the food estate concept.

"There is an Indonesian Intellectuals that mock me, mock the food estate concept," he said.

He added that if there is a food crisis and Indonesia continues to rely on imports, the condition of hundreds of millions of Indonesians will be very dangerous if it continues to depend on other countries.

The 280 million period of Indonesian people must depend on other nations. Even though the Almighty provides sufficient land, gives fertile land, provides sufficient water," he said.
