KPK Will Issue New Sprindik Cases Of Eddy Hiariej After Losing In Pretrial

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will soon issue a new investigation warrant (sprindik) for former Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej or Eddy Hiariej and President Director of PT Citra Lampia Mandiri, Helmut Hermawan.

The analysis is still being carried out after the two suspects suspected of bribery and gratification won the pretrial at the South Jakarta District Court (PN).

"We are still conducting analysis to prepare new sprindiks," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters quoted on Thursday, February 29.

Ali agreed that both of them were indeed released from suspect status because they won a pretrial lawsuit. However, the KPK continued to investigate because the decision did not invalidate the investigation material.

"The legal substance, the pretrial decision tests the formal aspect," he said.

The anti-corruption commission ensures that it will continue to handle the bribery and gratification cases that ensnared Eddy. "This is to ensure that law enforcement in Indonesia can run effectively and indiscriminately," said Ali.

"We will immediately convey the progress as well as invite the public to continue to oversee the process of handling cases later," he continued.

Meanwhile, the KPK was highlighted by Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) because it was considered not serious in handling the bribery and gratification case of Eddy Hiariej. This is because the former Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights has not been announced as a suspect.

He said Eddy was left free for too long after winning the pretrial lawsuit by the anti-corruption commission. In fact, the re-determination of the suspect should not be difficult because the judge's decision is considered to have many irregularities.

"ICW views that the KPK is not serious in handling cases of alleged corruption, former Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights, Eddy Hiariej," said ICW researcher Kurnia Ramadhana in a written statement.
