SAMARINDA - Dozens of illegal racers and spectators were forced to parade their respective motorbikes. They were 'sanctioned' by the police for illegal racing on the streets of Samarinda, East Kalimantan.

The motorbike crew or amor pushes the motorbike for 5 kilometers. They pushed their motorbikes up to the Meranti Road and Escort Post until 05.00 Central Indonesia Time, Sunday, February 28.

While pushing their motorbikes, the amor and the audience were reminded by the police over a loudspeaker. The police emphasized that illegal racing should not be imitated.

"This is not to be imitated," a policeman's voice over a loudspeaker, as quoted from the statement of Public Relation Division of Samarinda Police.

The action of pushing this motorbike is a form of punishment for the perpetrators of illegal racing in the Samarinda City area, especially the Pahlawan Street intersection.

"Currently we are in the red zone, reduce unnecessary activities. Unfortunate for your family at home if you come with the virus,” said the Head of Traffic Unit of Samarinda Police, Police Commissioner Ramadhanil.

Police emphasized the punishment for pushing the motorbike as a deterrent effect so as not to repeat the wild racing action.

"About 50 units of motorbikes are caught by us, for those who do not complete the document, we will carry out a ticketing action," he said.

Police Commissioner Ramadhanil hopes that parents will monitor their children's activity, especially in the current condition of the COVID-19 pandemic.
