Welcoming Western Discussions Send Troops To Ukraine, President Zelensky's Adviser: Aware Of Russia's Risk

JAKARTA - Senior Ukrainian officials welcomed discussions about the possible delivery of troops from Western countries to Ukraine, which sparked a Kremlin warning of the risk of Russia's conflict with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) if shipments occur.

French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday pointed out the possibility of European countries sending troops to Ukraine, but warned no consensus was reached at a meeting of European leaders in France.

"This shows, firstly, the absolute awareness of the risks posed by Russia that are militaristic and aggressive towards Europe," said Ukrainian President Mykhailo Podolyak's adviser.

About 20 European leaders gathered in Paris on Monday to deliver a message to Russian President Vladimir Putin about Europe's determination against Ukraine and oppose the Kremlin's narrative that Russia will definitely win the war that is now entering its third year.

"The opening of discussions on the possibility of direct support for Ukraine by the armed forces should be seen as a desire to give the right accent, to highlight the risks more clearly," explained Podolyak.

He also said it was at this stage important to accelerate the delivery of military equipment to Ukraine.

Asked about Macron's statement, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters: "The fact of discussing the possible delivery of certain contingents to Ukraine from NATO countries is a very important new element."

When asked what the risk of the Russian-NATO direct conflict would be if NATO members sent their troops to war in Ukraine, Peskov said: "In this case, we need to talk about not the possibility, but about the necessity (direct conflict)."
