JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has signed a Presidential Regulation (Perpres) on the Responsibility of Digital Platforms to Support Quality Journalism or Presidential Regulation Publisher Rights.

After a long and long-awaited period and after going through a long debate, I finally signed the Presidential Regulation Publisher Rights yesterday," said Jokowi at the peak event of the 2024 National Press Day (HPN) in Jakarta, Tuesday, February 20.

The Presidential Decree was signed by Jokowi today. The Presidential Regulation, which contains the 10 pages, consists of six chapters and 19 articles.

Article 3 states that the scope of this Presidential Regulation includes arrangements for digital platform companies, cooperation between digital platform companies and press companies, committees, and funding.

Meanwhile, Article 5 contains orders for digital platform companies that must support quality journalism with several provisions.

First, not facilitating the spread and/or not commercializing news content that is not in accordance with the law on the press after receiving reports through reporting facilities provided by digital platform companies.
