JAMBI - Police officers managed to arrest a father who was the perpetrator of the murder of his own 12-year-old son by strangling him in the neck and then about to be buried behind the house.

"This incident occurred on Sunday 18 February 2024 at around 14.30 WIB, in RT06, Bungo Kuning Hamlet, New Mining Village, Tabir Lintas District, Merangin Regency, Jambi Province and the perpetrators have been arrested," said Merangin Police Chief AKBP Ruri Roberto, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, February 20.

The perpetrator or suspect Abdullah (44) was arrested by residents and then handed over to the police has killed his own son with the initials AN (12).

Initially, at that time his son was playing kites and was followed by his father, whose son was then invited to return home.

Arriving home, his son immediately played. Then, his son asked permission to go home to his mother because his father and mother had separated.

However, at that time his father did not allow his son to come home and take his son to stay at his house, but his son did not want to stay.

"Because his son refused, his father was then angry and grabbed his neck until his son died and the murder was revealed after his uncle came to the perpetrator's house to take the perpetrator's BPJS card to take medicine for the perpetrator," said Ruri.

The case was revealed after the victim's uncle felt suspicious, entered the house to check things. After checking, he was surprised when he saw that his nephew was lying down and not moving again when he woke up.

The witness then immediately called the village apparatus and local residents and contacted the police.

After receiving this information, his party immediately carried out an investigation and did not take long, in the end the perpetrator and the evidence were successfully secured.

Based on the results of the interim examination, the perpetrator admitted his actions, however, his party is still investigating the motive and psychology.

For his actions, the perpetrator is subject to Article 338 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 80 paragraph (3), (4) of Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning Child Protection with the threat of imprisonment of more than 15 years.
