KPK Decides Case Of Extortion Of Rutan To Rise To Investigation After Conducting Case Title

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has exposed or filed a case related to allegations of illegal levies in detention centers. As a result, they will conduct an investigation to collect evidence to ensnare their employees who carry out fraudulent practices.

"This case has been agreed upon in the case title to go up to the investigation process," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri in a written statement quoted on Monday, February 19.

Ali has not detailed who the suspects are in the case. This is because the announcement will be made when the detention is made and the administrative process is still being carried out.

"(The case, ed) is still at the stage of completing the administrative investigation first and then the KPK officially announces it," he said.

Meanwhile, sanctions against 78 employees who have been found guilty by the KPK Supervisory Board will soon be carried out. Recently, Ali said, the Secretary General of the KPK immediately formed a team of examiners.

"It consists of elements of the Inspectorate, Bureau of Human Resources, General Bureau, and superiors of the examined employees," he said.

"The team will conduct an examination of all employees examined for the application of disciplinary sanctions, both for 78 employees who have been sentenced to ethics and 12 others who cannot be sentenced to ethics due to the temporary (time) of the incident before the formation of the KPK Council," Ali continued.

As previously reported, the KPK Supervisory Board has tried 90 employees' ethical violations related to allegations of illegal levies in detention centers. Of that number, 78 employees were given severe sanctions in the form of open and direct apologies.

The statement will later be recorded in the form of audio and visuals which will then be broadcast on the KPK's news channel. This method is considered by the KPK Council to be able to provide a deterrent effect, especially for other employees.

Meanwhile, the fate of the other 12 people will be handed over to the Secretary General of the KPK. They will be examined further for sanctions to be determined.
