Employers Have Been Persecuted, 5 Assistants In Jatinegara Forced To Work 24 Hours Without Salary

JAKARTA - Head of the Women and Children Service Unit (Kanit PPA) of the East Jakarta Metro Police Satreskrim, AKP Sri Yatmini explained, his party is still investigating cases of mistreatment of five household assistants (ART) or minor household assistants carried out by their employers.

"The victim is still a minor. The police made the LP (victim's report)," said AKP Sri when confirmed by VOI, Tuesday, February 13.

Meanwhile, the PPA Unit is still investigating the five victims suspected of being victims of trafficking in persons through the mode of auxiliary agent distribution in Jakarta. The police are also still collecting a number of pieces of evidence.

"Currently, the investigation process against the suspect is still ongoing," he said.

Meanwhile, based on information from Vina (39), one of the eyewitnesses of the incident, apart from being tortured, the victims were also forced to work 24 hours under the threat of the perpetrators.

"(The victim) works from morning to 22.00 WIB, sometimes until 02.00 WIB, even until 04.00 WIB," Vina told reporters.

The five underage women from Central Java were also not given a salary while working at their employer's house.

"Until today, they admit that they have never received a salary. Some have worked for two months, one month. They have been brought with distribution," he said.

Five household assistants (ART) from Brebes, West Java, were victims of abuse by their employers on Jalan Jatinegara Timur II, RW 02, Rawa Bunga, Jatinegara District, East Jakarta. The five victims were abused and suffered injuries all over their bodies.

Vina (39), an eye witness to the incident, said that the first time she learned of the incident, it began when the five victims fled from the house where they worked. The five household members fled because they could not stand the torture of their employer on Monday, February 12.

"My friend woke me up, he said next to there was an incident and there were already many residents at the location. When I checked there were five women, their positions were different, some were still stuck on the fence, in the roof tile, and some were already injured below," Vina told reporters, Tuesday, February 13.
