AHY: Without Efforts, Campaign Promises Are Difficult To Realize

Chairman of the Democratic Party Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) alluded to the promises of the presidential and legislative candidates during the campaign season. According to AHY, the campaign promise is difficult to realize without being accompanied by efforts.

"During this campaign period, we listened to the many promises and programs offered by the presidential and vice presidential candidates as well as the legislative candidates. They are competing to propose an increase in budgets in various sectors. Both education, defense, village budgets, employee salaries, social assistance, and other programs," AHY said in a political speech closing his campaign at the Jakarta Convention Center, Tuesday, February 6.

"Unfortunately, the discussion regarding efforts to increase and optimize state revenue has barely become a serious concern. Even without these efforts, the proposed expenditures and promised programs are difficult to realize," he continued.

Meanwhile, AHY continued, financing state spending through increasing debt is not a sustainable solution. Moreover, the last COVID-19 pandemic, according to him, has forced the state to increase debt.

If the Democratic Party is included in the government for the 2024-2029 period, AHY is committed to trying to realize campaign promises. For example, increasing national economic growth by based on four main components of the basic formula for increasing GDP. First, encouraging domestic consumption by maintaining inflation and encouraging economic redistribution. This effort can be done through the minimum wage policy, subsidies and social assistance for vulnerable groups of people. As well as economic policies that focus on reducing inequality. According to him, people's purchasing power will be high if the people have sufficient income.

"Here the Democratic Party not only proposes ideas but has also provided a lot of evidence," said AHY.

The eldest son of the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, ensured that the Democratic Party will struggle to provide the widest possible employment opportunities, simplify licensing procedures to open and run a business, facilitate the provision of business loans with affordable interest that can be done through mobile devices.

"Don't make it difficult for the people with quite complicated procedures. So, no more people are looking for convenience to get credit through loans with high interest rates and pressure from debt collectors," said AHY.

Not only that, but the Democrats also promised to fight for the decent wages for the workers so that their income increases. Including an increase in salaries every year for ASN, TNI/Polri and retirees teachers.

"We will also encourage productivity through providing incentives for business actors, if productivity increases wages that will be easily available to workers and workers," he explained.

Democrats, continued AHY, will also seek to increase people's purchasing power with affordable needs. Starting from food prices, fuel prices, to other energy prices, both for the household industry.

"For this reason, we will fight so that the government provides subsidies that are right on target and side with the people. So that the prices of basic needs remain affordable," he concluded.
