JAKARTA - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised US President Donald Trump, who had just been sworn in, saying they would complete Iran's defeat, thanking the effort to release hostages in the Gaza Strip.

Starting his congratulations on the Israeli government's official website, PM Netanyahu said he and his wife conveyed warm greetings to President Trump and his wife and people of the United States for the inauguration of the second term as US President.

Recalling President Trump's first term of office, PM Netanyahu said it was filled with important moments in the history of the big alliance between our two countries.

"You withdraw from the dangerous Iranian nuclear deal, you recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, you move the American embassy to Jerusalem, and you recognize Israel's sovereignty over the Golan Heights," he recalled, as reported by the Israeli government website, Tuesday, January 21.

"You are the intermediary for the historic Abrahamic Agreement in which Israel makes peace with four Arab countries," he continued.

Departing from that, PM Netanyahu believes his cooperation with President Trump will increase the US-Israel alliance to a higher level.

"I believe that we will resolve the defeat of Iran's terror axis and deliver a new era of peace and prosperity for our region," he said.

"On behalf of the Israeli people, I would also like to thank you for your efforts to help free the Israeli hostages," Prime Minister Netanyahu continued.

"I look forward to working with you to return the remaining hostages, to destroy Hamas' military capabilities and end his political rule in Gaza, and ensure that Gaza is no longer a threat to Israel," he said.

PM Netanyahu believes, under Trump's leadership, the best days of the US-Israel alliance will soon arrive.

As previously reported, Donald John Trump, also known as Donald Trump, was officially inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States (US), replacing incumbent Joe Biden at the Rotunda of the Capitol Building, Washington DC, United States, Monday, January 20 local time.

Donald Trump took the oath as President of the United States in accordance with the United States Constitution, guided by the Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court John Glover Roberts Jr., accompanied by his wife Melania Trump.
