DKPP Decision, TPN Ganjar-Mahfud Calls Prabowo-Gibran Can Be Canceled

JAKARTA - The Deputy for Law for the National Winning Team (TPN) Ganjar-Mahfud, Todung Mulya Lubis, said that the decision of the Honorary Council of Election Organizers (DKPP) which stated that the Chairman of the General Election Commission (KPU) Hasyim Asy'ari and several of his members violated the Election Organizer Code of Ethics (KEPP) could influence Prabowo's candidacy Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres) contestation. According to him, the process of nominating Prabowo-Gibran from the start had problems because it was passed by changing the rules at the Constitutional Court (MK). "With these two decisions that violate the code of ethics, there is a strong enough reason to say that the verdict, Prabowo's registration and gibran were declared null and void," Todung told reporters, Monday, February 5. "That means there are other legal processes that must be carried out. Because in the law there are those that are called null and void, or can be canceled. And I think this registration can be canceled," he continued. Although ethical issues are not included in the realm of law, said Tudong, this ethical investigation began from a legal point of view. Therefore, if you want to restore the political contestation process according to the rules, it is advisable to take firm action on this issue against the Prabowo-Gibran pair. "If I personally think that the person concerned knows that they have gone through a process that is full of ethical violations, they should voluntarily resign as presidential and vice presidential candidates," said Tudong. Meanwhile, DKPP decided that KPU chairman Hasyim Asy'ari violated KEPP. The decision was the aftermath of Gibran Rakabuming Raka's registration as a candidate for vice president with Prabowo Subianto on October 25, 2023.

Apart from Hasyim, DKPP also sanctioned other KPU members. They are Betty Epsilon Idroos, Mochamad Afifuddin, Parsadaan Harahap, Yulianto Sudrajat, Idham Holik, and August Mellaz. Just like Hasyim, in that decision the six people were also given strict warning sanctions.
