JAKARTA - Minister of Cooperatives Ferry Juliantono targets the presidential regulation governing the governance of the Red and White Village Cooperative and the Red and White Village Cooperative to be completed this week.
The rules were prepared ahead of the operation of tens of thousands of cooperatives which are targeted to start running in August to September.
"This week it will be finished," said Ferry after a limited meeting with President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta, Thursday, July 23.
The presidential regulation is needed to clarify the governance of the Red and White Kopdes which will involve many ministries and agencies.
The cooperative is prepared to be a channel for distributing government assistance and subsidized goods at the village level. The program includes social assistance, fertilizer, agricultural tools and machines, to 3 kilogram LPG.
Ferry said the President in the meeting emphasized the operational readiness of the cooperative so that the program could run according to plan.
"Earlier about the preparation for operationalization," he said.
The government targets around 25,000 Kopdes and Merah Putih Village Cooperatives to start operating in August to September. The number is targeted to reach 35,862 units by the end of the year.
The preparation of rules is important because cooperatives will be involved in the distribution of assistance, subsidized goods, financing, and cross-ministry coordination.
After being built and renovated for two years, the cooperative is planned to be handed over to the village to be managed.
