Ariana Grande's Super Strict Concert Bag Rules, Her Official Bag May Not Pass

JAKARTA - Fans of Ariana Grande who will watch the concert at the O2 Arena, London, are required to bring a bag that is completely transparent. The rule is much stricter than the usual O2 policy and triggers confusion because bags that have been sold on Ariana's tour may not qualify.

The Mirror quoted Thursday, July 23, saying Grande will perform for 10 nights from August 15 to September 1 in the series of The Eternal Sunshine tour.

Ahead of the concert, O2 announced that all belongings must be put into a transparent bag. The bag must be made of plastic, vinyl, or PVC with a maximum size of 30 centimeters by 15 centimeters by 30 centimeters.

Clear plastic bags with a cover, such as zip-lock, are also allowed. The size must not be more than 30 centimeters by 26 centimeters.

"This policy must be obeyed to be able to enter the show," O2 said via X account.

Other small bags should not be put in the transparent bag. Cosmetic products can be carried separately, but cosmetic bags are not allowed.

O2 also prohibits transparent bags that have writing, motifs, or color layers. Exceptions are made for medical needs, accessibility, parent and child equipment, and other important items. All must still undergo security checks.

The rules are stricter than O2's general policy. In other events, visitors are usually allowed to bring A4-sized bags or smaller without restrictions on color, motif, or bags inside bags.

The difference made some fans question the reason for the restrictions only being imposed on Grande's concert.

"If this is about security, why isn't this rule applied to every show at O2?" wrote one X user.

The rule also raises another problem. The transparent bag released ahead of the Sweetener World Tour in 2019 has black straps and zippers and a tour logo on the front.

The transparent bag from the cosmetics brand Grande, r.e.m. beauty, also has a logo on its side. Both are feared not to meet the new O2 rules.

"Can we get confirmation about the bag that Ariana herself sold? The bag has writing, but it doesn't cover the inside," wrote a fan.

Other fans chose to bring items that only fit in a clothing bag.

Some fans defended the policy by recalling the suicide bomb attack at the Manchester Arena in 2017. The attack after Ariana Grande's concert killed 22 people and injured more than 1,000.

Grande once revealed her trauma after the incident. She compared the results of her brain scan to the condition of people with post-traumatic stress disorder.

"I don't know why people are confused. Look at what happened in Manchester. He's still traumatized," a fan wrote.
