Bulungan Regency Government Builds Bridge In Hulu Hulu River Kayan

The Bulungan Regency Government (Pemkab), North Kalimantan (Kaltara), is targeting the construction of two main connecting bridges, namely the Baratan and Nyelung River bridges, to be completed by the end of 2024.

The two bridges connect several sub-districts in the interior of the Kayan river to Tanjung Selor, the capital of the Kaltara province.

Bulungan Regent, Syarwani said, the construction of the Baratan bridge, Seriang Village, Tanjung Selor District, began to be carried out since 2023 with a budget of IDR 7 billion. The project will continue in 2024 with a value of IDR 2.3 billion.

"So that the total budget prepared for asphalt construction including optimite on both sides is around Rp9.3 billion. The construction is gradual, hopefully it can function in August 2024," he said, Monday, February 5.

In addition, continued Syarwani, the Nyelung River bridge in Long Sam Village, Tanjung Palas Barat District, this year also began to carry out physical activities.

"I hope that earlier this year the administration will be completed, starting from supply to contracts. So that it has a long enough time to complete the work until one hundred percent of this year," he said.

The construction of the Nyelung River bridge has prepared a budget of Rp. 15 billion, with the basic structure of the ash (substructure at the end of the bridge) with Bailey Bridge floor or a portable pre-fabricated steel frame.

"In terms of construction, we continue to use the administration with the construction of the Bailey bridge span which is carried out. However, it can still be passed safely by people who pass because they are able to support more than 10 tons of vehicles," he said.

According to him, although the bridge construction is not permanent, this is a quick step taken by the Bulungan Regency Government according to existing financial capabilities.

"We will do it according to the local government's financial capacity. Of course later we will also think about the construction of steel concrete construction. But at least today we can quickly follow up on problems that are often complained of by the public," he explained.

The Regent said that the construction of a permanent steel frame bridge with the ability to support loads of up to 20 tons requires a budget of around Rp32 billion.

But functionally with a bailey structure the use of bridges is very feasible to pass. With a bridge width of 7 meters, pillars with animation include 50 meters of optimite on both sides of the bridge.

"When there will be enough budget to proceed to steel construction, we can move the bridge bailey structure to another place," he said.

Syarwani emphasized that this quick step was an effort to facilitate public access in 3 sub-districts in Hulu Sungai Kayan.
