JATIM - Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park Center (TNBTS) has completely closed the Ranu Regulo area from tourism activities due to weather factors.

Head of the Administration Section of the TNBTS Center, Septi Eka Wardhani, said that the temporary closure of the camping ground area in Ranu Pani Village, Senduro District, Lumajang Regency, East Java (East Java) was valid from February 5, 2024 until an undetermined time limit.

"The activity of visits and camping in Ranu Regulo is completely closed from February 5, 2024 until the next notice," he said in Malang City, East Java, Friday, February 2, which was confiscated by Antara.

Septi explained that the closure of tourist activities in Ranu Regulo was stated in a letter numbered PG.1/T.8/BIDTEK/KSA.5.1/B/02/2024 because it paid attention to weather conditions in the Ranu Regulo area located at the foot of Mount Semeru.

According to him, the weather conditions in the area often experience high intensity rain accompanied by strong winds and have the potential to cause fallen tree events that could threaten the safety of visitors.

"Paying attention to weather conditions that can cause trees to fall and threaten the safety of visitors, tourism activities are completely closed," he said.

He added, in addition to conditions due to weather that can endanger visitors, the closure is also for efforts to restore the Ranu Regulo ecosystem, to maintain and maintain the diversity of plant and animal species, including existing ecosystems.

"The closure of visiting and camping activities in the Ranu Regulo group camp is also intended for ecosystem recovery," he added.

For information, Ranu Regulo is a lake that is formed naturally with greenish blue water with an area of less than one hectare. Ranu Regulo is still in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park area.
