Billed For Debt, Man In Majalengka Kills Moneylender

MAJALENGKA - Satreskrim Majalengka Police arrested TD (34), the perpetrator of the murder of a moneylender. TD killed the moneylender because he was billed for debt. The victim's body was found by residents in the Simpeureum 2 District Elementary School (SDN) yard, Sunday morning.

Police managed to arrest TD who had fled and hid in Cipeles Village, Tomo District, Sumedang Regency, West Java.

From the video footage belonging to the Majalengka Police Satreskrim, TD was arrested by police officers in a tent he had set up in a rice field around Cipelas Village. When he was about to escape, TD had to be paralyzed by hot lead in his leg by police officers.

From the results of the examination, it was found that the perpetrator had a debt of Rp. 2 million to the victim. The debt should have been paid on January 28, 2024. However, the victim collected it before the agreed date. This incident irritated the perpetrator and eventually killed the victim.

"Majalengka Police managed to uncover this case in approximately 36 hours, starting from the discovery of the victim at the crime scene to the arrest of the perpetrator. The motive for the murder was because the suspect was upset due to being billed for debt by the victim who was due on January 28, but was billed on January 27," said Majalengka Police Chief, AKBP Indra Novianto, at Majalengka Police Headquarters, Wednesday, January 31.

Before killing, the perpetrator had invited the victim to meet. However, the perpetrator was offended by the victim's words.

"The suspect invited the victim to meet, but there were words that offended the suspect, resulting in an act of murder," he said.

In addition to the Rp 2 million debt, Indra explained, the perpetrator has other debts to the victim whose payment has also matured.

"The total debt of the suspect to the victim reaches Rp. 2 million, besides that the perpetrator has other debts due on a certain date and the perpetrator is unable to pay it," he explained.
