Anies' Grand Campaign Oration In Bandung, Surya Paloh Sindir Jokowi

Chairman of the NasDem Party Surya Paloh quipped President Joko Widodo in his oration during the grand presidential candidate campaign number 1, Anies Baswedan in Bandung, West Java.

Surya Paloh emphasized that the nation's founders had chosen the idea that Indonesia is a republic and not a country that is oriented towards royal and religious feudalism.

"We adhere to our constitutional system, which is to give birth to the commitment of all traffic rules on the journey of our national life, which is to remain based on a model and a democratic system," said Surya Paloh in Tegalega field, Bandung, West Java, Sunday, January 28.

On that basis, Surya Paloh said that democracy should not be tarnished in order to launch its own family interests. Surya Paloh's statement clearly insinuated Jokowi, who was said by a number of parties to be building dynastic politics after his eldest son, Gibran Rakabuming Raka became vice presidential candidate.

"Democracy should not be damaged by anyone, democracy regulates personal rights, family rights, and of course public rights. We must not mix personal rights, families, and public rights," he stressed.

In the oration at the same location, Anies Baswedan also mentioned that there was abuse of authority and ethical violations in the implementation of the election. Although he did not mention the case, this refers to Gibran's candidacy as a companion to Prabowo Subianto's presidential candidate.

"In the past few months, we have seen that our state regulations have become problematic, the ethics of the state has been tarnished, the spirit of eradicating nepotism has been disrupted, free speech has been disturbed, suddenly in the last few months, all people feel that we really need change," explained Anies.
