Prabowo Was Touched To Talk Again With Wilfrida TKW Who Was Saved From The Death Penalty

JAKARTA - Presidential Candidate Prabowo Subianto admitted that he was touched to see and speak again with Wilfrida Soik, the female worker (TKW) he saved from the death penalty in Malaysia. It is known, Prabowo released Wilfrida from the hanger for being charged with killing his employer in 2015.

"I was surprised, I was moved to see Wilfrida again. But what is important for me is that Wilfrida lives happily now. What is clear is that she looks happy because she is fatter, she used to be very thin," Prabowo said during a speech at the declaration of support for the United Indonesia Advocate Alliance (AAIB) at Balai Kartini, Jakarta, Friday, January 26.

Before giving a speech to advocates throughout Indonesia, Prabowo first spoke with Wilfrida via video call. The call was made by AAIB without Prabowo's knowledge.

Initially, Wilfrida told about the material assistance that Prabowo gave him to face the legal process in Malaysia. He also admitted that he still remembers Prabowo being present in his five or six trials.

"If there is no Mr. Prabowo, I will be sentenced to death," said Wilfrida.

Wilfrida, who was in Atambua, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), then thanked Prabowo for saving his life.

"I want to thank Pak Prabowo very much. I can't afford to pay what Pak Prabowo gave me. I can only pray for Pak Prabowo to always be healthy," said Wilfrida.

"Kalau tidak ada Pak Prabowo, saya tidak ada saat ini tambah perempuan asal Belu, NTT itu.

Prabowo then greeted and asked how Wilfrida and his family were. The Minister of Defense admitted that he did not know that Wilfrida lived in Atambua. In fact, he often visits the Polytechnic belonging to the Defense University in Atambua.

"I didn't know Wilfrida was in Atambua. I'll look for Wilfrida later. I'll see you later," said Prabowo.

In his speech, Prabowo said that he helped Wilfrida after a female activist met him. If that is the case, Prabowo said, the activist told about the Wilfrida case and asked for help considering that Prabowo had friends in Malaysia.

With the help of his friend, Prabowo got acquainted with Malaysia's first-class lawyer, Tan Sri Shafe. The general chairman of the Gerindra Party then asked Tan to become Wilfrida's attorney.

"That's where I got involved at first. And I have an opinion until now, if we can help people, why don't we help. We have to help!," Prabowo explained.
