Kali Ledug Embankment Broken, Garden City Housing Inundated Up To 110 Cm

TANGERANG - Heavy rains that flushed Tangerang City on Saturday, November 23, caused flooding in a number of areas. One of those severely affected was Garden City Housing, Periuk, with a water level of 70 centimeters, having previously penetrated 110 centimeters.

A resident, Wahyu, said hundreds of houses in the housing complex were flooded due to the breakdown of the Kali Ledug embankment.

"The bun was broken due to heavy rains yesterday, so it was flooded. Hundreds of houses were submerged, the water level is now around 70 cm," Wahyu said at the location, Sunday, November 24.

Tangerang City BPBD officers immediately went to the location to handle the situation. Together with the relevant agencies, they installed an emergency embankment using sacks filled with sand and wood to withstand the overflow of water.

"Last night a temporary embankment was immediately installed from sandbags and wood," said Wahyu.

Meanwhile, the evacuation of affected residents was carried out by boat. The elderly and children are a priority to be moved to a safer place.

"Many have been evacuated, especially the elderly and children," Wahyu concluded.
