The Economist Survey Calls Prabowo-Gibran Superior 50 Percent, Volunteers: Fuel Wins Victory

JAKARTA - The National Coordinator for the Prabowo-Gibran Country, Muhammad Pradana Indraputra, assessed that the results of the The Economist survey were fueled to pick up candidate pair presidential and vice presidential candidates Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka won one round in the 2024 presidential election.

The results of the British media survey said that Prabowo-Gibran had the support of around 50 percent of Indonesians.

"The survey was actually for us, it was not surprising. I think this survey is fuel to pick up the victory," said Pradana in his statement, Thursday, January 25.

He said, one of the things that was in the spotlight of The Economist regarding Prabowo-Gibran's electability because the commitment of candidate pair presidential and vice presidential candidates number 2 was related to the sustainability of various President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) programs. According to Pradana, this is very important, especially in the domestic and foreign business world.

"Because you can definitely imagine if suddenly after 10 years, what the existing infrastructure has built is so systematic. Then it also changes the concept of business licensing to be simpler. Because in Pak Jokowi's era, there are many things that are fundamentally good and will be perfected by Pak Prabowo and Mas Gibran," he said.

He gave an example, in the context of small community business credit, Prabowo-Gibran will prosper farmer groups, fishermen, breeders with various programs. Then in the context of investment, Prabowo-Gibran will also provide ease of doing business, then support the Job Creation Law, as well as the sustainability of infrastructure development.

"Well, we are talking about tax holidays and tax allowances given to business actors, both from within the country and abroad. Those are all things that have been used for 9 years as sugar, attracting the business world, especially abroad," he said.

Nevertheless, continued Pradana, his party did not want to be satisfied quickly and made the survey as an encouragement to work even harder to win the Prabowo-Gibran pair. When viewed from the current trend, Prabowo-Gibran's electability has indeed shown a positive trend.

Previously, The Economist as of January 16, 2024 in their survey revealed that presidential candidate number 2 received around 50 percent support. The Economist summarized the survey in an article entitled 'Who will be the next president of Indonesia' which was released on Wednesday, January 24. The survey tries to monitor who the competing presidential candidates are and how to support the three.

"Prabowo 50 percent, Ganjar 23 percent, and Anies 21 percent, despite the decline in votes between September to October 2023, Prabowo's electability continues to increase from October 31, 2023 to January 2024," wrote The Economist.

The Economist also depicts Prabowo, who, if elected President of Indonesia, will continue President Jokowi's program.

Meanwhile, within a few months leading up to voting day, several survey institutions in Indonesia have also released their findings regarding the electability of three pairs of presidential candidates.

Among the latest survey institutions is the Political Indicator, where Prabowo-Gibran is also in the top position with an electability of 48.5 percent. As for the LSI survey, which found that Prabowo-Gibran was superior with 47 percent electability.
