Three Rohingya Refugees Escaped From BMA Banda Aceh Shelter

ACEH's BANDA - A total of three Rohingya refugees fled from the temporary shelter of the Aceh Balee Meuseuraya (BMA) Building, in Banda Aceh City.

"The three refugees who fled were all male. They were Sana Ullah (22) Shobir Hossain (19) and Azim Ultah (19)," said Head of Intelligence and Security at the Banda Aceh Police, Kompol Suryo, as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, January 23.

Suryo confirmed that the three refugees fled after an examination was carried out at BMA, and the three were not at the shelter location. It is suspected that they fled through the back building at dawn.

According to him, based on field checks, the Rohingya refugees fled without carrying their belongings, except for the UNHCR identity bracelet by two of them.

"The thing they left was a bracelet (identity from UNHCR). So it is suspected that the two bracelets were still carried by two people, one was not wearing a bracelet," he said.

Suryo suspects that the three Rohingya refugees have fled the BMA building because their belongings were abandoned, and it is believed that they are still around the city of Banda Aceh.

"There were no communication tools that they used. Because all communication tools some time ago have been secured by the police," he said.

Therefore, he asked the public if they saw three suspicious people, and it was suspected that Rohingya refugees, they could be immediately reported to the nearest police force.

"Currently, there are 124 Rohingya in BMA, of which three fled, three became suspects and were detained, and seven others were still witnesses by the Banda Aceh Police Satreskrim," said Suryo.
