Bareskrim Submits Report On Arya Wedakarna's Case Regarding Allegations Of Blasphemy To The Bali Police

The Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police has delegated the handling of the alleged blasphemy case with the reported member of the Regional Representative Council (DPD) Arya Wedakarna (AWK) to the Bali Police.

Arya Wedakarna was reported by the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) of Bali Province to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police regarding a statement alluding to the use of the hijab for Muslim women.

"Regarding the issue of the Balinese council members, according to the MUI report, the police report has been transferred to the Bali Police to be combined with existing police reports handled by the Bali Police," said Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Public Relations Division Kombes Erdi Adrimulan Chaniago to reporters, Tuesday, January 23.

However, it was not conveyed in detail about when the handling of the case would be delegated. It was only conveyed by the Bali Police who would investigate the alleged blasphemy.

"The handling will be at the Bali Police in the future," said Erdi.

Arya was reported by the Bali Province MUI on January 12, 2024. The report was registered with the number LP/B/15/I/2024/SPKT/Bareskrim Polri.

The Bali Police also received reports on the same case and reported party. The report was registered with the Number LP/10/I/2024/SPKT/Polda Bali dated January 3, 2024.

Arya Wedakarna had gone viral on social media because he was suspected of alluding to the use of the hijab for Muslim women.

In the video clip, Arya at that time attended a meeting with the Head of the Bali Nusra Customs Office (Kanwil), and the Head of the Ngurah Rai Customs Office, as well as the manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, and Arya Wedakarna made the racist words.
