Solo Mayor Ensures The Closure Of Dog Meat Stalls Is Not Arbitrary

SOLO - The Surakarta City Government said that the closure of stalls that sell food from dog meat cannot be done arbitrarily considering that justice for traders must also be considered.

"It's someone's job, habits are also through the process. The government can't just ban it, there must be stages," said Deputy Mayor of Surakarta Teguh Prakosa in Solo, Central Java, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, January 22.

Regarding the rules regarding the closure of dog meat stalls, he said, there were no regulations from the central government.

According to him, local governments also cannot regulate the closure, considering that there has been no derivative from the center.

"We make regulations from the center. We can regulate if there is a derivative regulation. Local wisdom is fine, local wisdom is not a problem, but the parent regulation must exist," he said.

Although there has been no ban on the sale of dog meat, he said, currently the stalls selling food with raw materials are rarely found openly.

"Indeed, in Solo Raya, not only Solo, the last 3-4 years sales have no longer been vulgar in street places. So only at certain points," he said.

Meanwhile, related to this, the Surakarta City Government is currently drafting a circular regarding the sale of dog meat.

Responding to a request for an audience from a culinary dog meat trader, he advised them to consult with Commission IV of the Surakarta City DPRD. However, his party ensures that they will focus more on regulating and not just prohibiting.
