Surya Paloh: I Think It's Not Time For This Impeachment To Be Responsible

EAST LOMBOK - Chairman of the NasDem Party, Surya Paloh, spoke about the discourse on the impeachment of President Joko Widodo which was widely debated. "I don't think the impeachment is yet. It's a responsibility," said Surya Paloh after the NasDem Party national campaign at Masbagik Public Field, East Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, Antara, Monday, January 22. He regretted that Jokowi's discourse on impeachment as president would continue to be appointed and discussed. "It's a shame if it's done," he added. According to Surya Paloh, the most important thing right now is that all parties must be able to put and prioritize national interests in the midst of an increasingly heated political year. "Even though our hearts are hot, the national interest must be put forward rather than talking about impeachment," he asserted. However, he hopes that the public can find and make it a political lesson. "So, let's not sacrifice this nation. People must learn a lesson," he added. Previously, Presidential Special Staff Coordinator Ari Dwipayana stated that President Joko Widodo was not disturbed in responding to the discourse on impeachment in the midst of the 2024 General Election stage. "Yes, of course, he is not too disturbed by this discourse because he is still working as usual," said Ari when met at the Ministry of State Secretariat Building, Jakarta. Ari explained that President Jokowi is more focused on increasingly heavy government tasks and various projects that must be completed, especially in the last year of his term of office. According to Ari, the discourse on impeachment is part of expressing opinions or criticism from a democratic perspective that is legal to do. However, national interests must be prioritized so that the political situation does not get hotter and has the potential to disrupt national unity and integrity.

"So, we maintain this conducive situation so as not to create political polarization," said Ari.
